Back in the day, Vh1 India was my only source for discovering English music. I am talking circa 2007-2008.
It was thanks to Vh1 that I discovered excellent music like Coldplay's 2008 album Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends and Arcade Fire's 2010 album The Suburbs among other things.
One of the artists I discovered through Vh1 was Jack Johnson. His song Hope from his 2008 album Sleep Through the Static played through the day for weeks on end until it was stapled on my brain.
I wanted to download the song onto my MP3 player so I tried looking for it online by searching something along the lines of Jack Johnson Hope Static through the Cable. I don't know why but I thought that's what the name of the album was, Static through the Cable. Took me years to notice that this was wrong and by then, the phrase was stuck in my head.
I liked the sound of it and it felt like a reasonable thing to name a blog that would amount to nothing until it gained some notoriety. So here we are.
